The voluntary carbon market has a structural problem: buyers cannot reliably distinguish high-quality credits from low-quality ones. Greenwashing is not primarily the result of malice; it is the result of information asymmetry. Sellers know more about their credits than buyers do, and the tools to close that gap are inaccessible, expensive, or not designed for marketplace use. CarbSet closes the gap by making quality the organising principle of the marketplace.

African carbon projects are historically undervalued. CarbSet's quality scoring gives them the same analytical treatment as any other credit, and our African payment rails (Paystack, M-Pesa, coming in Phase 2) will make purchasing accessible to African buyers. CarbSet operates under an Australian Financial Services licence variation via BMI partnership, with a qualified Responsible Manager under ASIC regulation, giving institutional-grade regulatory coverage in Australia from launch.

Where we are now.
All Phase 1 assessments are provisional. This is the correct, disclosed position. The institutional authority, who verifies and by what methodology, is a founder workstream that runs in parallel to the build and activates in Phase 2 as independent verifier onboarding begins. Phase 1 builds the product and the audience; Phase 2 makes the quality layer independently credible.
